Mel and Ann
Ya-Ya’s: A group of women whose hearts and souls are joined together by laughter and tears shared through the glorious journey of life.
Ann and I have been friends for almost 20 years. The first time we met was on a camping trip. My crew of 3 boys and her 2 girls. The youngest was still in diapers. Now the youngest is in 8th grade and the oldest is 23 and employed! We’ve seen it all! From diaper rashes to getting into college. It has been a journey and the teenage years have been and still is a slippery slope. Parenting seems to never end. We’ve witnessed some pretty funny moments with our kids and we’ve had some downright tough love moments too that have brought us to tears. Through all of it we have held each other up and kept our sanity! Oh, and the wine helped too!
We tried to think of a name for our blog that described friendship in a way that went beyond just knowing someone. I’m sure most of you have read the Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood or if not, maybe seen the movie. It’s the “sisterhood” that links us when we form our friendships. It makes us so much stronger not only as individuals but as a group. Our experiences together, our secrets, our backstories form bonds that hopefully stand the test of time.
So, in the spirit of “sisterhood,” we wanted to create a safe place to talk about what we go through as moms, wives, sisters, and friends while raising our families. We need to take care of each other. Never take your friends for granted because one day they will come to you and say that they are moving to Florida! (Thanks, Ann) Stay in touch, don’t let silly misunderstandings get in between a great friendship. In fact, pick up the phone and call someone who you have been missing for a while–you won’t regret it:)
For now, our blog is going to be focusing on the teen years through college into adulthood. We’ll be sharing articles we’ve found that we think are helpful for you and we have written a few too. In addition, we have a Resource page that will highlight some of our favorite books, websites, other parenting blogs, recipes, and printables! Also, follow us on Facebook and Pinterest .
The 2cents part of the title is probably obvious. We are not ones to hold back our opinions, so join us for the ride and throw in your 2 cents as well!
